A - Calm - Odations
Based on our location and accommodations, we are definitely a nature and wildlife lover's paradise. For those whom choose the cabana accommodations, you will get to experience sleeping within pimenta stick walls, feeling like you're submersed within natural elements, surrounded by tropical forest, while in a safe and breezy shelter. The cabanas are decorated minimally, to help keep you and your space free from clutter and help allow energy to flow freely throughout each unit. Each doorway is 4-5 feet wide with double barn-inspired doors, double locks and symbolic Mayan wood-sculpted center piece handles. The doors open out to a common screened-in main area. Each cabana doorway has semi-sheer curtains, as well as beaded ones, to give extra privacy so you can choose to keep your doors open and allow the tropical breezes to blow through the space. Each cabana also has a personal swinging hammock chair and bedside table with lockable drawer. Each twin cabana bed has a mosquito net cover.
Shared Washroom facilities (for cabana floor):
The shared washroom facility on the cabana floor, has 3 stalls, 3 hand-carved siricote wood sinks and 3 open-air individual pimenta showers with hot/warm/cold shower options. The counter-top is embedded with ancient Mayan pottery pieces from thousands of years ago that washed up on the shore and were found buried under the sand.
Stay in a private, two storey tree-house with private kitchen, bathroom, screened-in porch and bedroom loft. Sleeps 3 with double bed on upper floor and twin day bed on main floor.
Mosquito repellent - we highly recommend bringing some and only using natural repellents. Lavender, lemon-eucalyptus, peppermint and apple cider vinegar mixed together seem to work for some. Mosquito season is during rainy season, which is typically June- end of Nov. However they can appear or disappear at any time of year depending on how much rainfall we receive, especially being in dense bush jungle.
Serenity Retreats currently does not supply hair and skin products. Please only bring environmentally friendly products, as our showers and sinks drain to a soak away meant to water the garden. We will be offering our own natural and environmentally friendly products for guests to use in the future, but that will not be ready until further into 2018.
What you will find is that the space is kept very minimal as far as objects like furniture. There is simple seating, loungers and lots of hammocks on the premises and no clutter. Each cabana bed has a bedside table to keep your clothing in, as well as wall hooks and hangers. Under the beds in a box for your use, is a Yoga mat, towels, extra pillow, extra blanket, toiletry basket (to carry to the shower/washroom) and bath soap. The cabanas don't have closets, but they do have hanging hammock chairs! Simplicity allows a calming flow of energy and helps to clear the mind. When your outer space is free from clutter, your inner space will follow.
Sailing Lessons can be arranged directly through facility - Enjoy a day of sailing on the bay in your own personal learner's sailboat, led by the Corozal Sailing Club.
*Other excursions (such as cave-tubing, ziplining and snorkeling) can be arranged through Serenity Retreats Belize at an additional cost as well.
Like anywhere else, things can happen in Corozal. This is typically a quiet family town, but you can never be too safe, which is why we recommend leaving any valuables at home. In fact, we recommend being as minimal as you can for this week. There are no safes in the rooms, but anything you want secured, such as passports, can be kept in our security box.
Although we are conveniently only 3.5 miles from town, we are very much set in dense bushy jungle, within a nature lover's paradise. Our retreats are best suited for those that appreciate the wilderness and all her earthly surprises. There are many species thriving in our surrounding, lush tropical forests. From turtles, to coatimundis, to vultures, green parrots, hummingbirds, foxes, pumas, jaguars, wild boars, tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, crocodiles, bats, marching ants, iguanas, mice, rats, geckos.... the list is almost endless and most of these will not typically or commonly be seen on the premises (except lizards, mostly geckos which do peacefully visit inside) and with the exception of many birds, some of the others most likely won't even be seen during your stay, as the more people around the less wildlife comes out. But you never know... ** With the exception of food. Therefore we are happy to store for you any outside food in our fridge, to help avoid having mice visit.
Now if after all that, you still want to join us for a week or night of relaxation, Meditation, Yoga, adventure and delicious Plant-Based food, then continue below where you can select your room package...
Peace and much love, til we meet in Belize ~
